Plan the shoot. Log every take.

Slate turns a script into shot lists, storyboards and shoot days, shares the call sheet with a link, and keeps the take log on set, even with no signal. When the footage reaches Shutter, the notes from set are already waiting.

From a script to a wrap in four moves.

  1. 01

    Break it down

Add scenes with their headings and page counts, then the shots each one needs: size, movement, lens, angle, and how long the setup takes.

  2. 02

    Sketch the frames

Draw the storyboard straight onto the shot with a finger, a pen or a mouse, in the project's aspect ratio. Or drop in a reference picture.

  3. 03

    Plan the days

Pick the scenes for each shoot day and who's called when. Slate adds up the setups and tells you if the day runs past wrap before anyone's on set.

  4. 04

    Roll and log

On the day, log each take from your phone. Slate fills in the next clip name, and you circle the good ones and mark the rest NG.

A call sheet the whole crew can open.

Share a shoot day as a link. It opens on any phone with no account and no app: general call, location, parking, the nearest hospital, every scene and shot, and who's called when.

Phone numbers stay off unless you choose to include them. Change the day and share again, and the same link shows the update. Stop sharing and it stops working.

Built for one hand, in a basement with no signal.

  • Works offline. Projects live on your phone first and sync when there's a connection, so a dead zone never costs a take.
  • One tap per take. The next clip name is filled in for you, A014_C005 after A014_C004, and the shot moves on when you've got it.
  • Know where you stand. Slate compares the clock with the plan and tells you how far ahead or behind the day is.
  • On your home screen. Add Slate to your iPhone or Android home screen and it opens full screen, like any app.

The notes from set meet the footage.

Open a camera file in Shutter and the takes you logged for it are right beside the notes: which shot it was, whether it was circled, and what you said on the day. Back in Slate, every take shows whether it's been reviewed and how many notes are still open.
